In the past few years, development in green energy has exploded, yielding new technologies that can reduce dependence on natural reserves. But Satish Chopra, chairman, Haryana City Gas Distribution Ltd (HCGDL), had visualised the shift several years ago.
Chopra is the man behind providing clean and green fuel to Gurugram for the past 10 years.

Pleased with the rising awareness among people about the almost-toxic air they are breathing, Chopra said, "By using green fuel (CNG), the quality of air will definitely improve and reduce pollution. Residents of Gurugram are slowly and gradually opting for CNG. It's a good sign."

Vehicle emissions are one of the major causes of pollution in the country. "When we first came to Gurugram in 2006, there were no CNG stations. Today, HCGDL has established 17 CNG stations in different sectors," said Chopra.

The company also provides PNG to residential, commercial and industrial sectors. Next on the cards is the providing of clean and green fuel to the entire city.

Chopra is also the man behind the success of SKN-Bentex Group of companies.

The company is also making its foray into Bhiwadi in Rajasthan and is in the process of setting up a pipeline network and several CNG stations in this financial year.
